What is LOCATE?

Finding good places for children.

LOCATE: Child Care is a free resource and referral service that helps parents identify and choose child care that best suits their needs and preferences. LOCATE offers parents information on all regulated center-based care facilities, family child care, nursery schools, kindergarten, and Head Start programs available near home, on their commuting route, or near their workplace. LOCATE maintains updated computerized referral information on each child care program, hours of service, age-range, child care costs, capacity, special services provided and more.

There are two ways to use LOCATE: Child Care:

1. Search by talking to a LOCATE: Child Care Counselor at the centralized call center in Baltimore, by calling the toll-free number (877) 261-0060. Service is provided to callers by LOCATE counselors with experience and education in the early care and education field, to assist parents in choosing child care to meet their needs and preferences. LOCATE provides information and education in child development and child guidance, and refers families to additional community resources.
   
   The LOCATE phone line is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm
